Emergency Response Dogs
are trained to:
. Press an alarm button or pull an emergency cord
to call
for assistance if a person falls or needs help
. Respond to and warn of imminent danger such as critical
low blood sugar levels, seizure, loss of consciousness,
drop in blood pressure, and other medical emergencies
. React to the smell of smoke/sound of the smoke alarm, and
alert the emergency services that a disabled/vulnerable person needs urgent assistance
Emergency Response Dogs are also trained to assist with everyday tasks such as dressing, undressing, opening and closing doors, fetching named items and picking up dropped items.
A Therapeutic Aid Dog is trained to reassure at times of emotional difficulty, provide an alternative focus for the person
